A Gainesville woman has been sentenced to seven years in prison for DUI manslaughter in connection with a 2024 crash that killed a 53-year-old passenger, authorities said.

Christopher Pink received the maximum 85.5 month sentence -- just over 7 years -- for the DUI crash that killed Jennifer Watson and her dog north of Moorhead in February.

Thirteen of the 24 motorists arrested during the week of June 30 to July 6 were taken into custody in the Hilo District. Five were arrested in Kona, three in Puna, one in South Kohala and two in North Kohala. Six of the 24 drivers were involved in a traffic crash, and three of the drivers were under the age of 21.

An arrest has been made after a crash on July 4th killed a teenage girl and injured four others. As we previously reported, the crash happened last Friday night at the intersection of Old Easley Bridge and White Horse Roads.

Jaime Chavez Rubio entered a plea to DUI manslaughter on June 24 and was sentenced to seven years in prison, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release. He will be placed on probation for 10 years after his release, and his driver's license will be revoked.
