On the popular social media app TikTok, teenagers are sharing videos of school-issued Chromebooks spewing smoke in what's being called the "Chromebook challenge."

BELTON, Texas (KWTX) - A growing trend on Tik Tok called the “Chromebook challenge” has students intentionally causing Chromebook laptops to catch fire, which is raising alarms in schools across the country and here in Central Texas.

A new trend among young students circulating on TikTok is prompting warnings from local fire officials and school districts across the U.S., including here in Missouri, as well as Springfield.
