After a failed attempt to finalize a global plastics treaty last year in Busan, South Korea, representatives from 170 countries began meeting in Geneva yesterday to negotiate a binding agreement on reducing plastic waste.

The United States is urging countries to reject a global treaty aimed at limiting plastic production and chemical additives, opposing over 100 nations supporting such measures at U.N. talks in Geneva.
