The Los Angeles Dodgers delivered a statement win, shutting out the San Diego Padres 6–0 to reclaim sole possession of first place in the National League West. The Padres had several early blunders and could not spark any offensive momentum against dominant Dodgers pitching.

Additionally, Padres star Jackson Merrill revealed how closely the Friars follow their California rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers. San Diego is set to go through another intense series with Los Angeles as the divisional rivals lock horns again this weekend.
