Former President Joe Biden sought Tuesday to use an audience in Chicago of national advocates for the disabled to reestablish himself as a leading party voice to challenge the actions of President Donald Trump amid listless Democratic leadership in taking on Biden’s successor in the White House.

President Joe Biden spoke at the 2025 national conference of Advocates, Counselors, and Representatives for the Disabled in Chicago, his first major address since leaving office.

Although organizers have noted Tuesday would mark Biden's first post-White House public appearance, a Biden spokeswoman told the Sun-Times the former president "has been public for some time," including remarks at an IBEW event last week.
