The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, which had been searching for the animal for nearly a week, said that it was found on Sunday and returned to its owner.
The escapee, coined 'Zebra Ed' on social media, was found in a pasture near the Buchanan Estates in Christiana, Tennessee, and was airlifted away by helicopter.
A pet zebra named Ed caused a stir in Nashville after he was spotted trotting along Interstate 24 on May 31. Authorities temporarily shut down the roadway as Ed made his way into nearby woods. Videos of the zebra’s highway stroll and neighborhood wanderings quickly went viral on social media.
