Elly De La Cruz homered, scored three times and drove in three runs as the Cincinnati Reds rallied to beat the Detroit Tigers 8-4 on Sunday. De La Cruz singled and scored in the fourth, had an RBI single before scoring in a four-run eighth and hit a two-run homer in the ninth.

Yet, despite the disappointing result, the Tigers remain atop the American League Central, several games ahead of the second-place Minnesota Twins. The Reds are still fourth in the National League Central, but are doing their part to close the gap on a Wild Card spot.

The Tigers are riding high after a big win on a rain-soaked Friday night at the ballpark. After a back-and-forth start against the Reds in the first game of the weekend set, a big sixth inning gave the home die an advantage. Detroit put up four runs in the frame, adding four more over the next two innings, to pull away and win 11-5.
