The 2018 summit ended with Trump assailing his Canadian hosts on social media as he departed on Air Force One, saying he had instructed the U.S. officials who remained in Quebec to oppose the G7 joint statement endorsed by the leaders of Japan, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany and, of course, Canada.

The last time Canada hosted the meeting, US President Donald Trump torpedoed the gathering, calling his host 'dishonest & weak.'

The summit, hosted by Canada this year, brings together leaders from the Group of Seven nations and invited partner countries.

G7 leaders arrived in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada, for three days of intense discussion, amid tension in the Middle East and alliance changes.

Before dignitaries hit the road and headed for the hills, Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek and Alberta Premier Danielle Smith were there to greet them as they arrived in Calgary on their way to Kananaskis. Smith was also scheduled to host a reception Monday in Calgary for non-G7 leaders.
