J.J. Spaun delivered a finish to remember on his way to winning the 2025 US Open. The 34-year-old holed a 64-foot putt on the 18th hole at Oakmont Country Club to win the season's third major with a one-under score.
The final round of the U.S. Open on Sunday at Oakmont Country Club will resume after a near two-hour delay caused by heavy rain with overnight leader Sam Burns clinging to a one-shot lead over Australian Adam Scott.
Sunday at Oakmont was chaotic, challenging, maddening and entertaining. It was all you could ask for in a U.S. Open.
DeChambeau followed what his fellow SMU alum, the late Payne Stewart, accomplished 25 years earlier by winning the U.S. Open at Pinehurst. He is looking for his third U.S. Open title. After going even on the front nine, DeChambeau went 3-over on the back.
JJ Spaun is having the greatest Father's Day anyone can imagine, as the images of him with his daughters after his U.S. Open win went viral online.
"Our purse is $21.5 million. Winner's check is $4.3 million. We didn't raise our purse this year," USGA CEO Mike Whan said. "When I started at the USGA just four years ago, our purse was $12.5 million, so I feel comfortable that we've been a leader in moving fast and bigger. [...] We want the money to be commensurate with the achievement."
