The move frees up $7.78 million in cap space for Carolina as Clowney was due around $8.53 million in salary in 2025, with $2 million reportedly guaranteed.

The Carolina Panthers released three-time Pro Bowler Jadeveon Clowney on Thursday afternoon, one year into his two-year deal. But it sounds like the linebacker is taking the setback on the chin—and wants the rest of the league to know he's still got it.

In 14 games last season, Clowney posted 46 tackles and 5.5 sacks with the Panthers. At 32, he could fill in as a short-term starter for an edge-needy team or come off the bench as an excellent depth at pass-rusher.
