TORONTO -- The San Jose Sharks rallied with two goals in the third period and ended an eight-game losing streak with a 3-2 shootout win against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena on Monday.

Fabian Zetterlund scored in the fourth round of the shootout as the San Jose Sharks battled back from a two-goal deficit in the third period to stun the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 on Monday night and snap an eight-game slide.

The goalie returns to Pittsburgh after being placed on waivers Jan. 15 and assigned to the AHL once he cleared. Joel Blomqvist, a 23-year-old rookie goalie, was sent to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in a corresponding move after allowing six goals on 33 shots in the Penguins’ 6-5 overtime loss to the Maple Leafs on Sunday.
