Heavy rainfall caused flash flooding on Thursday. The Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Department said a juvenile male was swept down a drainage ditch along the 200 block of Watersville Road. The flood waters then took the boy down into a pipe, where he drowned. Police were called to the scene at around 5:20 p.m.
