President Trump met yesterday with one of the few European leaders he actually likes: Italy’s prime minister, Giorgia Meloni. As Trump greeted her at the White House, he said that “ there’ll be a trade deal, 100 percent ” with the E.U. before the end of the 90-day pause on some tariffs.

The influential business group is concerned that even if it successfully challenges tariffs imposed under an emergency law, the duties could be reapplied under another.

China will pay no attention if the United States continues to play the "tariff numbers game", China's foreign ministry said on Thursday, after the White House outline how China faces tariffs of up to 245% due to its retaliatory actions.

China has shrugged off the latest U.S. tariff hike, dismissing the Trump administration's threats as a "meaningless tariff numbers game." Newsweek reached out to the White House by email with a request for comment.
