According to arrest warrants, Moore is charged with one misdemeanor count of Willful Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers.

A Georgia state senator who was previously banned from the state House chamber has been arrested after he tried to enter the chamber for the governor’s state of the state speech.

Following a dramatic standoff with security during Governor Brian Kemp's State of the State address, Georgia State Senator Colton Moore was arrested Thursday for trying to violate a prohibition that prevented him from entering the Georgia House chambers.

ATLANTA — Georgia Capitol Police arrested State Sen. Colton Moore, who represents parts of North Georgia, on Thursday morning while trying to attend the annual State of the State address. A Channel 2 Action News video shows the moments the senator tried to enter the chamber, only to be rebuffed, shoved and eventually arrested.

The Republican senator was arrested by Georgia state police as he was trying to enter the state House chamber. Moore says he's not backing down.

The state senator had been subject to a ban from the House chamber over previous disparaging remarks about late House speaker David Ralston.

ATLANTA — Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, who presides over the Georgia Senate, said Friday that he won’t tolerate any future episodes like what happened Thursday when Sen. Colton Moore was arrested for trying to enter the state House chambers.

Moore was previously banned from the house for making disparaging remarks about Former Speaker David Ralston, who died in 2022.

State Senator Colton Moore was arrested as he tried to enter the house chamber for a joint session of lawmakers.
