Former Red Sox top starter and World Series winner Chris Sale had helpful words for new Boston ace Garrett Crochet ahead of Crochet's spring training debut.

One of last season's biggest breakout stars was flamethrower Garrett Crochet. The 25-year-old made his debut as a starting pitcher after serving as a bullpen arm up up until that point of his career.

The Boston Red Sox traded for Garrett Crochet over two months ago, but the move won't feel fully cemented until if and when an extension comes along. Crochet, the 25-year-old left-handed fireballer, pitched like a true number-one starter last year,

Crochet was a pretty good reliever in his first full season in 2021, but his stuff was already down from his 2020 debut. He then underwent Tommy John in 2022 and dealt with shoulder issues while trying to come back in 2023.

Chris Sale spoke highly of Garrett Crochet, and believes Red Sox fans have a lot to be excited about when it comes to their new ace.

Coming off a year in which they went 41-121 and set the Modern Era record for losses, the White Sox continued to sell off assets heading into 2025, with USA Today thinking they failed to get enough of a return.

The game also marked the Red Sox debut of infielder Alex Bregman. The former Astro had an impressive day himself with three hits and his first home run in a Boston uniform. He was quite impressed with what he saw from Crochet during his mound appearance.
