After a long, long wait, Tesla has finally arrived in India, opening its first showroom in Mumbai. Its Model Y, priced between Rs 61-69 lakh on-road, is up for sale. But can Indian customers afford Elon Musk’s EV?

Tesla has launched its journey in India with the introduction of its popular Model Y. The rear-wheel drive (RWD) variant of the Model Y is priced at Rs 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The company has also unveiled the long-range RWD variant of the Model Y, priced at Rs 67.89 lakh.

Tesla Model Y Mumbai on-road price is at Rs 61 lakh, as per price catalogue on company website. The car is available in six colours—stealth grey, pearl white, diamond black, glacier blue, quick silver and ultra red.

Speaking to the media, Fadnavis noted that Tesla’s move to open its Experience Centre marks the American EV giant’s formal entry into the Indian market.

Tesla has officially entered the Indian market with its first showroom at BKC, Mumbai, launching the Model Y SUV at Rs 60 lakh. The news sparked a wave of memes online, ranging from jokes about potholes to the car’s affordability.
