Long Island and the rest of the New York City area had been devoid of the popular supermarket chain until Oct. 2019, when a 74,000-square-foot Wegmans opened in Brooklyn. That was followed by an 87,500-square-foot store at Astor Place in Manhattan in Oct. 2023.
