BISMARCK, N.D. (North Dakota Monitor) - The League of Women Voters of North Dakota is asking Gov. Kelly Armstrong to veto a bill that would shorten the window for North Dakotans to submit mail-in absentee ballots.

The Legislature has passed and sent to Governor Armstrong a bill that would affect when mail-in absentee ballots are due.

The North Dakota Senate passed a bill on Monday to standardize state election laws, removing some power from home rule counties and cities in the state.

Final action is expected soon on a plan that would prevent North Dakota cities and counties from using alternative voting methods for local elections. Both chambers of the Legislature have approved a bill that focuses on two options – ranked-choice voting and approval voting.
