A fire sent three people to the hospital in the South Shore neighborhood. The Chicago Fire Department responded to the fire on the eighth floor of an apartment complex in the 6900 block of South Crandon just before 2 a.m. Police said two men and a woman were taken to a local hospital in good condition. The victim suffered smoke inhalation.

Police in southwest suburban Woodridge were investigating after an electric car crashed into a home then burst into flames, leaving at least two people dead and one injured. The incident occurred about 9 p.

It's a shame,' said one long-time neighbor Adam Fick, who was in bed dozing off around 8:30 p.m. when he heard "two loud bangs."

The homeowner, who did not want to be identified, said his wife was the only one home at the time of the crash and was injured as a result.
