The Falcons would take on a dead cap hit of $37.5 million while clearing $2.5 million in cap space by trading Cousins before June 1. If the team can wait until after June 1, Atlanta could offload his $27.5 million salary and lower his dead cap to just $12.5 million.

Kirk Cousins is still on the Atlanta Falcons' roster, but they reportedly want to change that this offseason. Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports cited a current NFL general manager in a Wednesday article who said the Falcons are looking for a trade partner.

Even if they say they’re comfortable keeping Kirk Cousins as a backup quarterback, the Falcons want to get rid of the veteran, and Cousins wants out of Atlanta.
