With President-elect Donald Trump adding uncertainty around whether a TikTok ban will go into effect, the focus is now turning to companies like Google and Apple that are expected to take the popular video sharing app off their platforms in just two days.

Jeffrey Fisher, who represented TikTok users in the challenge to the crackdown law before the Supreme Court, wrote Attorney General Merrick Garland and President Joe Biden on Friday, noting that the law forces TikTok,

A law that prohibits mobile app stores and internet hosting services from distributing the video-sharing platform to U.S. users takes effect on Sunday.

“Our position on this has been clear: TikTok should continue to operate under American ownership. Given the timing of when it goes into effect over a holiday weekend a day before inauguration, it will be up to the next administration to implement,” read the statement.

Citing national security, the Supreme Court rules that TikTok can be banned if its Chinese parent company ByteDance does not sell the app by Sunday.
