Mayor Carlo DeMaria will be asked to repay $180,000 in longevity payments, as well as address other recommendations from the state inspector general, according to Tuesday's meeting agenda.

Everett Mayor Carlo DeMaria received $180,000 in longevity bonuses he was not entitled to, then hid the payments from the City Council and the public, Inspector General Jeffrey Shapiro wrote in a letter issued Thursday.

"It is imperative that the city council act to recover these funds from the mayor and return them to the city’s treasury," the state inspector general said.

The inspector general is calling on the Everett City Council to claw back the money after finding the bonuses were improper.
