Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi won the coin toss under overcast conditions and elected to bat in Afghanistan’s must-win last Group B game of the Champions Trophy against Australia.

The ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is coming close to the end of group stage with only two matches remaining. The second last Group B match between Afghanistan and Australia ended without a result as rain played spoilsport on Friday in Lahore.

South Africa has advanced to the ICC Champions Trophy semi-finals after a stunning bowling performance against England. Led by Marco Jansen's 3 wickets, South Africa restricted England to a mere score 179. This result eliminated Afghanistan, who needed England to win by a massive 207-run margin to stay in contention.
