Less than 12 hours before a gunman wearing an eerie disguise showed up at the homes of two Minnesota lawmakers Saturday, the Oregon Legislature passed a bill to conceal the home addresses of elected officials and candidates for public office.

A spokesperson for U.S. Rep. Hillary Scholten said the representative was among members of Michigan’s congressional delegation named in the list.

Democratic Representative Hillary Scholten of Michigan is postponing a previously scheduled town hall, saying her name appeared on an alleged hit list from shooting suspect Vance Boelter. Newsweek reached out to Scholten's office via email on Monday for comment.

A Minnesota state lawmaker was assassinated in an allegedly "politically motivated" attack on Saturday. Utah leaders said there has been an uptick of verbal threats against lawmakers in the state. Utah officials of both parties condemned divisive rhetoric that can lead to political violence.

Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband were killed, and state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife were wounded in politically motivated shootings early Saturday, Gov. Tim Walz said. Authorities have also identified a suspect who is still at large.
