The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday its count of confirmed measles cases in the U.S. has already surpassed 2024.

An Oakland County adult is the first measles patient in Michigan since July 2024. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and Oakland County Health Division confirmed the case at a press conference Friday afternoon, March 14.

"And honestly, we got very lucky because the only other exposures are those two visits to the emergency room," Guzman said. "It's a very unusual in a measles case."
