Officials in India say more than 40 construction workers are missing after an avalanche hit their camp in Uttarakhand state.

At least four people died from their injuries in India after an avalanche hit a remote border area, officials said on Saturday, as rescuers deployed helicopters to search for the remaining five missing.

Eight labourers have been confirmed dead following an avalanche in Uttarakhand, while 46 were successfully rescued. The nearly 60-hour rescue operation involved over 200 personnel and advanced equipment.

The body of the eighth worker missing in the Mana (Chamoli) avalanche incident was recovered by the Army on Sunday afternoon during the ongoing search operation, officials said. Earlier in the day, three more bodies were found as rescue teams continued searching for the last missing worker.

In the Uttarakhand avalanche incident, the last missing person's body was found on Sunday. All 54 persons have either been rescued or their bodies recovered. The recovery marks the culmination of Mana Village Rescue Operation,
