Wapner can be tough but he does a good job holding the panel to account. Sorkin and Quick are excellent. Mike Santoli and Steve Liesman are MVPs in my book. Cramer, Faber and Quintanilla have a good show.

CNBC really is there as background noise, meaning low on volume, to glance at once in a while or for like quick earnings news, then turning up the volume once in a while.

Cnbc is syndicated by these hundreds of cable companies. If you have service from that cable company as part of your cable service, you have a license for Cnbc. But then those cable users that have cnbc sometimes want to watch it away from home. So, since they have a license, cnbc will let them stream so long as they have proof of their license.

The $300/yr deal posted is probably decent enough but I'm pretty sure I read recently that certain trading accounts give you free access to CNBC... so check what is available through whatever stock trading service you have.
